The People of the UAE
The United Arab Emirates has a current population of 9,771,000 people. Due to the economic opportunities provided in the UAE, there is a diverse population because of immigration. 87.9% of the country's population came from other countries. The main ethnic groups in the UAE are Emirati (11.6%), South Asian (59.4%), Egyptian (10.2%), and Filipino (6.1%). These demographics show how the population is made from people from all over the world with their own corresponding cultures. The median age is 38.4, showing that a lot of the population is part of the workforce. As shown by the pyramid below on the left, males greatly outnumber females. This indicates that many men will be left without a partner for their entire lives. In addition, the large clump of people from ages 30-54 will be elderly within decades, requiring the country to take care of the aging population.
Culture of the UAE
The main languages in the United Arab Emirates is Arabic, English, and Hindi. There are many others spoken as well due to the UAE being a hotspot of immigration. The official religion is Islam, with 76% of the population belonging to it. The other major religions are Chrisitian (9%) and other (15%). The fertility rate is 1.73, indicating that a lot of women are recieving higher education and higher paying jobs. Many values of the Emirati are aligned with those of the Islam religion. One thing that makes the UAE different from other Islamic counries is that they are accepting to other religions coming in.
